You might be able to set something up using a proxy mailbox, and give it the email address of that DL. Then set up a forwarding rule to forward a copy of the emails it receives to jim and harry. Then set the OOF rule on that mailbox. Hi How can we setup a out of office message for a distribution group, so that when someone send an email to the distribution group, an out of office message is generated FROM the distribution group primary email address, and not from an email address linked to member of the distribution group. e.g. Distribution group email address is helloworld@microsoft.com and goes to jim@microsoft.com and harry@microsoft.com How can I set an out of office message for emails sent to helloworld@microsoft.com , to the out of office message appears from helloworld@microsoft.com , and not from jim@microsoft.com and harry@microsoft.com . I have tried creating a Out of office rule against jim@microsoft.com (for example) , that says any emails to helloworld@microsoft.com , send a outlook template email with the FROM address set as helloworld@microsoft.com . However outlook throws a rule error when when send an email to helloworld@microsoft.com . jim and harry has send as permissions for helloworld@microsoft.com please help

Hi, There are a lot of threads asking if a DL can send OOF or Autoreply message. The answer is NOT, because DL does not have a mailbox so a rule cannot be set on it to have it autoreply to messages. Your understanding would be appreciated. As a workaround, we may create a rule on the hub server for “autoreply”. For details, see the thread below.
